EMPATHEATRY

Development of inclusive theatre groups for emotionally empowered and active youth

With the project we aim to increase accessibility of theatre activities for youth with fewer opportunities and thus encourage their holistic development. We want to empower youth workers, theatre pedagogues and similar profiles in their work with youth and develop quality methods through interdisciplinary cooperation for use in developing inclusive theatre workshops.

We want to offer young people an experience of creative international cooperation, addressing their emotional development and active citizenship.

Our project will directly involve two target groups. First, it will empower mentors, youth workers or theater pedagogues, i.e. people who carry out theater activities and workshops with young people. We want to support them in better quality work with diverse groups of young people, especially those with fewer opportunities.

The second group are young people with fewer opportunities. In doing so, the focus will be on two specific groups, young people from vulnerable backgrounds, such as immigrants and young people with a lower socio-economic status, and young people experiencing mental disorders. Half of the partner organizations will focus on one group, half on the other. With this, we will be able to cover a more diverse population of young people and at the same time train the mentors to work with everyone.

We will conduct quantitative and qualitative research on working with youth with fewer opportunities, conduct international and local trainings to empower mentors and interdisciplinary co-create guidelines for further work. We will organise inclusive theatre workshops, international mobility for young people, present our activities in a toolkit and combine our findings into international policy recommendations. We will present the results at national and European level.
